Case Studies
Cornwall County Council Sites.
Direct & through their contractors we frequently attend
site to identify problems and advise solutions. We have recommended
and supplied many pumps as well as pressurisation equipment.
Pendennis Shipyard.
Besides selecting & supplying pumps for new build yachts
we have recently undertaken the overhaul of over 50 pumps
for several refit contracts. Pumps such as Herborner, Edson,
Stork, Moyno, Calpeda and CAT.
Norton Manor Camp.
Through Team Services, Barnstaple, we built and supplied 4
twin pump variable speed water booster sets for accomodation
blocks on the camp.
The Brend Hotels.
An old booster set at The Imperial Hotel, Barnstaple, was
causing problems. We identified the set and recommended a
replacement unit which we subsequently were able to build
and supply within a matter of days. This was a twin pump variable
speed set.
Fisheries Company, Plymouth.
Construction company GKP, Plymouth, contacted us to supply
a specialist bespoke booster set to provide water to a fish
washing / preparation area and wash down. Space was an issue
so we designed a variable speed set such that all the components
were contained within the break tank.
Tyco Electronics.
As their approved supplier for pumps we have sized, selected
and supplied stainless steel open impeller chemical pumps
together with drum pumps as well as carrying out pump
repairs.
National Marine Aquarium.
We were asked to sort out some pump problems, some of which
were warranty issues with pumps supplied by others. We also
looked to replace a large GRP pump and managed to obtain better
delivery times and prices for them. We have supplied several
ESPA pumps to them.
Rainwater Harvesting.
We have recently supplied 10 in-ground tanks and pump control
units for a business park in Falmouth, which were ordered
through EIC, Redruth.
Also we supplied a single system to a site in St. Ives via
APS, Helston.
Pall Europe.
We were asked to supply and install a new self priming sump
pump capable of pumping in excess of 500 Litres / Minute through
existing 2" pipework. The pump had to be capable of handling
plastic waste. This was particularly difficult due to some
of the existing pipework being buried in concrete and the
kiosk housing the existing pumps was very small. Furthermore
the suction line was quite long & convoluted. To add further
to the difficulties there were restrictions to the electric
supply and noise levels had to be kept to a minimum. A Varisco
(Gilkes) ST pump was selected for the duty and Mann Acoustics
designed & constructed an acoustic cover.
Yachts & Superyachts.
Due to our long standing association with Pendennis Shipyard
we are frequently contacted by yacht engineers to provide
spares or replacement pumps. We are able to ship any items
to all parts of the globe and we have recently shipped a replacement
pump to SY Rebecca at Newport Rhode Island.
Plymouth City Council.
We were asked to visit site to invesigate heating pumps reported
as being noisy and causing nuisance to residents in a block
of flats. Although we had not supplied the pumps ourselves
we were happy to help. We managed to resolve the problem by
returning the pumps to the manufacturer for repair - under
warranty. There was no cost to the Council!
